A defibrillator has been installed outside of a Norwich pub thanks to fundraising efforts led by Publicans Scott and Niki Hemming, and the local community.
For the last six months, there have been a variety of fundraising events hosted at The Gordon pub, with all proceeds contributing to the purchase and installation of a life-saving defibrillator.
Publicans, Scott and Niki have been at the helm of The Gordon for several years and have built up a huge presence in the local community.
This summer they set themselves a challenge to raise £1,600 through a host of events, raffles, and karaoke nights and are pleased to have succeeded. Scott said: “The community are always so supportive of everything we do at the pub, and we wouldn’t have been able to do this without them.
“Niki and I are thrilled that we can provide such life-saving equipment, which although we hope doesn’t need to be used, could be life-changing for one of our regulars or members of the community.”
After a jam-packed summer of fundraising, Scott and Niki are looking forward to seeing out the remainder of the year with their usual festive events lined up whilst giving the community some time to recover before they announce their next fundraiser.
Scott added: “Niki and I want to thank the whole community because without their generosity and support, this wouldn’t have been possible.”
The defibrillator has now been installed on the outside of the pub, which sits on Gordon Avenue on the corner of Hillcrest Road.
