The Meadow House is situated in the beautiful town of Berwick upon Tweed and with the Scottish border being only a mile away is well known as the ‘First and Last’ pub in England.

This fantastic community pub was officially reopened by Mayor Brian Douglas following a £250k investment by pub owners, Punch. The pub has been transformed to create a stunning, family friendly pub with something for everyone to enjoy all year round.

Works included a complete external decoration including new lighting and signage. The existing beer garden has also been improved to create a fantastic outdoor space to be enjoyed on those sunny days.

The inside of the pub has been completely overhauled to create a more open environment making it much easier for customers to enjoy all the pub has to offer. With new seating and soft furnishing throughout the Meadow House has a cool, comfortable vibe with a real home from home feel.

The Punch owned pub will continue to be operated by new Publicans, Marc McDonald and Ashley James who brought a wealth of experience and a real passion for the Great British pub.

Following the refurbishment, Managing Director for Punch Andy Spencer said; ‘’This is a significant investment by Punch in a much-loved community pub and we are extremely pleased with the new look created here. With Publicans Marc and Ashley at the helm we are confident that the Meadow House will continue to operate at the very heart of the community it serves.”

The pub will serve food everyday boasting a menu chock full of delicious, seasonal classics that cater for everyone.

There’s a wide range of drinks available including a choice of craft beers, wines, gins and other speciality spirits, all served to a really high standard. The pub really does offer something for everyone, even our four-legged friends are welcome with their own designated ‘doggy station’ offering a drink and snack.

To really bring a community feel back to the pub Marc and Ashley plan to host regular entertainment from live music to everyone’s favourite pub quiz!

Publican Marc commented, “We are excited to be reopening following the investment.  The pub looks great and will help us to bring this much-loved pub back to life. We have lots of exciting plans to ensure the Meadow House becomes the central hub of the community and we cannot wait to welcome back customers old and new to really enjoy their time with us in their local pub.”
