The Queens Head pub in Rothbury, Northumberland, will host a week of fundraising events this May to raise vital funds for Mind.
The event, spearheaded by passionate mental health advocate and Management Partner (MP) Jordann Dixon, aims to raise awareness of mental health within the community as well as firmly cementing the pub as a safe, welcoming and inclusive place to be.
Jordann, who took to the helm of the pub in January 2024, has been instrumental in building a strong rhythm of weekly activities where guests can use the pub as a community space, come together, get out of their houses and engage in meaningful conversations.
She is inviting the community and beyond to take part in a week of inclusive activities during Mental Health Awareness week, which she hopes will help to raise awareness and break the taboo of mental health by providing a platform for open discussions and support.
“These events are designed to cater for all age groups because we must recognise that mental health doesn’t discriminate, and anybody, no matter their age, can be affected at any point in their lives,” Jordan commented. “My ambition is to create a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable and can open up about their feelings in a judgment-free space.
“Last year we raised over £1,000 for Mind charity, and I know how vital their services are, which makes it even more worthwhile. I’m so grateful for the generosity of local businesses who support and donate to the cause, and I’m really excited for our journey of raising awareness to continue.”
The week of activities starts on Monday, the 12th of May and runs through to Sunday the 18th, with kids’ messy play, quizzes, coffee and cake mornings, bingo, a DJ and raffle all lined up.
Bookings aren’t necessary; guests can simply turn up on the day of the event to join in on the fun. They can also contact Jordann or a member of the team via their website or social media pages.
