Excellent hospitality skills are crucial, as this is a busy village local as well as a destination food pub. Planning functions and events, exceptional hosting and the ability to drive cover turn are all crucial to your success.

You will have experience of running a busy kitchen and managing a team, take pride in delivering an exceptional pint of beer, with standards that are second to none.

With the pub having its own bespoke menu, and using some of the best locally sourced produce, it is essential that you have knowledge of developing your own menu, complete with daily specials, and all that entails.

Local knowledge is an advantage, as you will be at the heart of village life and be proud of the tight knit community you serve. You enjoy rallying round your team and community to create great memories and events for the whole of the families in the neighbourhood.

The Pub

The Red Lion is a stunning pub situated right in the heart of the village of Shamley Green, opposite the cricket pitch and village shop, located in the beautiful countryside of the Surrey Hills, about five miles south of Guildford.

The pub benefits from a car park to the side, with a picturesque garden to the rear with sheltered booths, a patio area covered by a heated umbrella and a private corner complete with water feature. There is also outside seating to the front of the pub which is perfect for watching the cricket match and soaking up the hustle and bustle of village life.

The Red Lion’s bar is just to the right as you walk into the pub. To the left of this is an area that lends itself to more of a drinker’s space, with a fireplace, and this then leads into the newly refurbished toilets. To the right of the bar are the dining areas, with a variety of seating and tables, and a couple more fireplaces. This is the quintessential Surrey country pub.

The garden and pub are popular with the large number of walkers and dog owners who come to the village and use the pub as the start and end points of their walk.
